Stress
Coping with stress is a skill needed for any aspiring student… but then, it is for anyone, is it not?
We all have stress in our lives - whether it is caused by school, with its deadlines, costs, exams, etc - or work, home, family, etc. etc.
Right now, the biggest stress for me is not so much that school is staring this week - it is that school is starting this week in the wrong damn city!
I do not want to get in the car and go to Peterborough tomorrow.
I do not want to get through my day and go back to an empty motel room and sleep alone and …
I am sure that we will talk on the phone, Ross & I … will let him know when I get back and he can call me from here - with our long distance plan, won’t cost anything for him to call me…. but it just is not the same.
It is only for the first month. And I will be home on weekends. And this too shall pass… and it doesn’t matter how often I tell myself - I am still inclined to sulk and pout and be a big ol’ baby about it.
It’s silly … just yesterday I was about as irked with him as I ever get. He annoyed the heck out of me. But still…
Anyway - recognizing the causes of our stress is important to be able to deal with them. Sometimes, that is basically all you can do…. recognize it and keep going.
Other times, you can take steps to mediate your stress - find a way to make things less stressful, for example.
In my case, right now… we have talked at length about this impending separation. Ross even offered to quit his job and come with me now… but that would cause a whole lot more stress of a different kind - and t’would be the sort that lasted a whole lot longer too.
For now, phone calls - and possibly msn, if I can get him back on that, will have to do …
It’s only for a month. *sigh* I hope! It is a good year for pest control… it is supposed to be slowing down by now!! Damn critters!

Great post, and so true. Furthering our education is not exactly the same as pampering ourselves, is it?
